This classic game of "the broken phone" can give an interesting aspect to communication.
Implementation:
The
group forms a line and the person at the beginning of the line thinks
of a phrase or a word and says it to the person next to him / her quickly in a low voice , in the ear. The listener cannot ask for clarifications or a repetition.
This
continues until the end of the cycle. All participants repeat the word
to the person next to them until the last participant in the line.
When
the latter receives the message, s/he will say the phrase aloud to the
group, and the person who started it must tell whether it was the
original phrase / word.
Debriefing:
Form a circle and discuss:
- What conditions made this communication difficult?
-When can you find yourself in similar situations in real life?
-How could you improve communication to get the message across?
If you only run the activity as an energizer, you can skip the debriefing and just have fun.
